SCHENECTADY - Herbert T. Norris, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Schenectady, NY on May 10, 1931, Herbert was the son of the late Elizabeth Walsh and Albert Norris.  Herbert graduated from St. Columba’s School in Schenectady and went on to achieve an Aircraft Engine Mechanics diploma.  Herbert retired from the Teamsters Local 294 after 36 years, in 1991.  In retirement, he went on to drive a school bus for the Niskayuna School District as well as driving tour buses.

Herbert loved taking the family out for Sunday drives in the Rambler station wagon and enjoyed spending time at Sacandaga Lake with the family.  He was an avid bowler in leagues at Towne Bowling Academy, Sportsman’s Bowl and The Bowler’s Club achieving Individual Life Membership in the Schenectady Bowling Association Merit Award Club.  Herbert also loved adding to his collection of Hot Wheel cars.  You could often find Herbert and his wife out to eat at Denny’s, Blue Ribbon and the Bellevue Cafe.

Herbert was the beloved husband of the late Mary “Shirley” Maraviglia Norris.  He was the brother of Raymond Norris, David (Michelle) Norris, Kathy (Ted) Lokenberg, and the late Harriet (Russell) Page, Alfred Norris and sister-in-law Maureen Norris.  Herbert was a devoted father of Patrick (Deborah) Norris, Darlene Kosakowski and the late Michael Norris.  He was the grandfather of Richie Norris, Kelly Toro, Tabitha Norris, Crystal Norris, John (Theresa) Kaniff, Joshua Norris, and Matthew (Adare) Norris; and great-grandfather of Isabella, Quinton Jr., Austin, Nevalynn and Olin; He is the brother-in-law of Mary Jane Norris. He is also survived by many surviving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Herbert’s Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie.
