COLONIE – Henry A. Ouderkirk, Jr., 76, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 02, 2021 at the Inn of Community Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Henry A. and Dorothy A. Ouderkirk Sr. Henry was in the US Army from 1968-72 and served in Vietnam. He was a purchasing agent for the General Electric Company for many years and more recently in the same capacity with St. Peter’s Hospital.
Henry was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Electrician’s Golf League at the Stadium golf course. He was a huge New York Yankee fan and enjoyed an occasional Miller Lite, annual trips to Lake George, family vacations to Cape Cod and watching Seinfeld and Jeopardy. Henry was a proud grandfather and was present for every cherished milestone with his cherished grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Joan E. Ouderkirk; his children, Joelle M. Zara-Ouderkirk (Joseph) and Henry A. (Kelli) Ouderkirk III. He is the brother of Patricia and Wayne Ouderkirk. Henry is the much loved Papa to Nadia (Matthew), Amanda (Sydney), Dylan, Haley, Karley and Tyler. Great grandfather of Eva, Adrien and Amari. He is also survived by many longtime friends that enjoyed years of traveling and cruises.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Henry’s family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Please only enter the church from the main doorway; masks and social distancing are required; church ambassadors will be available to help with seating and questions; and please arrive by 9:45 am. The Mass will be live streamed on the St. Pius X website at www.stpiusxloudonville.org. Interment, with military honors will be in Memorys Garden.
