Helen E. Helmer

ALBANY - Helen E. Helmer, 94, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022 at St. Peter’s Hospital. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Louis and Minnie Groeber.

Helen had worked for many years with Guilderland School District Transportation Dept as a bus driver. She enjoyed the New York Yankees, Nascar and her cherished dogs. Helen is the last of her dear friends, Simone, Rosie and Jan, affectionately known as the Golden Girls. They enjoyed many years of friendship, travel and adventure.

Helen is the beloved mother of Karen (Stephen) DiBella, Glenn H. Helmer II, and Kevin Helmer (Pam Eveley). She is the sister of Eugene Groeber. Helen is the cherished grandmother of Justin Helmer, Nicole DiBella (Jon Corcoran) and Casey Helmer (Scott Ruiter). She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by six brothers and sisters and her beloved dog, Dakota.
