Helen M. Garrett

Menands - Helen M. Garrett, 89, of Menands, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Marion Skinkle. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, John B. Garrett Jr. She worked for many years along with her husband and thier family medical supply business, John B Garrett Inc. Helen was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius X Church and formerly served as the Past President of the Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by her children, John (Margaret) Garrett III, Cynthia (Christian) Tomain, Thomas (Pattie) Garrett, Amy (David) Peters, Christopher (Suzanne) Garrett, Gail (Tony) Kirby, Mary Helen (Robert) Morris and Gregory (Joanna) Garrett. Helen is the sister of the late Jack Skinkle (Emily survives), Robert (Frances) Skinkle and Lee (Mary) Skinkle. She is also survived by 20 cherished grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:00 at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
