Helen D. Albert

West Albany – Helen D. Albert, 86, of West Albany, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Depew, NY and was the daughter of the late Mariano and Grace Cocchi. Helen was a Charter member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society Women’s Auxiliary. She had worked for Exchange TV & Appliance and had been a secretary/bookkeeper with Atlantic States Distributing Corp. for many years. Helen had also been a longtime volunteer at the former St. Francis DeSales Church in West Albany. She loved to make chocolates and share them with her valued family and friends. Helen enjoyed caring for others, crafts and baking.

She is the mother of Cheryl Ann Albert. Helen is the sister of Emily D. Schubert and the late Mary Scaringe and John Cocchi. She is the aunt of Billy, Bob (Karen), John (Kathy), Brian and Joe Schubert and Frank (Pam) Scaringe. Several grand nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Helen’s family on Monday evening from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Maria Drive, Loudonville. Entombment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (mohawkhuman.org), Community Hospice of Albany (communityhospice.org) or Shriners Hospital (shrinerschildrens.org) in memory of Helen D.
