Schenectady – Francis J. Mauriello, 97, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021

Born in Schenectady the only child of Ralph and Sadie Mauriello, Frank was a highly decorated WWII Air Force veteran serving as a Long-Range Navigation Operator with the guided-missile detail.  He later served his community with the Schenectady Police Department. During his police career as a detective, he became an expert in the Identi-Kit program for law enforcement. Upon retirement from S.P.D., he became an executive and full-time instructor for Smith & Wesson sharing his vast knowledge and experience of the Identi-Kit all over the world including working with the F.B.I., C.I.A., Royal Mounted Police, Scotland Yard, and Interpol.

A professional ventriloquist and always the entertainer, Frank’s dynamic personality brought great joy to his many friends and colleagues. He was a member of the Electric City Barbershop Chorus, Niskayuna Senior Center, Calvary Assembly, and later an active member of the New Life Ministries in Schenectady. Frank volunteered at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital and while in his eighties, he took up tap dancing performing with the local dance studio. His love for the Lord Jesus led him to be baptized as an adult in his 80’s, in recognition of his faith and belief in Christ. His love for life, compassion for people, and generous heart are part of his family DNA forever.

Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Arlene in 2007.  He is the devoted father of Lawrence J. (Barbara) Mauriello and Francine A. (James) Fazio.
