Eugene D. Banks Sr.

SCHENECTADY – Eugene “Geno” D. Banks, Sr, 90, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Newark, NJ and educated in Albany schools.  Geno was a Golden Gloves boxer as a young man. He was a boxing and wrestling enthusiast. Geno was an astute political observer and often shared his strong opinions. He is the husband of the late Florence Banks.

Geno is the father of Sheila Irvin, Eugene (Sharon) Jr. Dawn, Kim, Darren, Gayle, Carmella and Tammy Banks and the late Brenda Irvin and Robin Banks. He is the stepfather of Ram (Barbara) Boodram, Devika (Terry) Spears and Tecla Hurley. Geno is the brother of Grace Smith and the former husband of Viola Irvin and Cecelia Nichols. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren a niece also survive.

Services in Celebration of Geno’s life will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Geno’s family on Saturday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
