Eleanor R. Weingarden

COLONIE – Eleanor R. Weingarden, 80, of Colonie, passed away on Monday, May 04, 2020 at her daughter and son in law’s residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Arthur Kiffen and Eleanor T. (Sweeney) Rafferty. Eleanor was a keypunch operator with New York State Dept. of Education for several years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, sibling lunches, traveling and puzzles. She had volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Church. Eleanor loved children, especially babies.  She was full of joy when spending time with her family and her loving spirit really came alive when with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eleanor is the beloved mother of Heather (Jim) Meachem, Debbie Hart, Shawn (Keith) Stiffler and Sandi (John) Law. She is the dear sister of Mary Ryan, Arthur (Lorie) Rafferty, Kathleen Ashline, Brian (Kathleen) Rafferty, Tracy Hanley and the late Michael Rafferty and Marcia Barbagallo. Eleanor is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Eileen & John from Community Hospice and Naomi from Landmark for the care they provided to Eleanor.  Funeral services will be private. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
