FORT EDWARD -- Eleanor Miller Pearson, 96, of The Oaks, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at the Glens Falls Hospital. She left her worn-out earthly body after spending the recent past days at Elderwood in North Creek.
Born January 21, 1927, in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late Basil and Gladys (Smith) Miller.
Over the years Eleanor held several jobs, including but not limited to a soda jerk at Burleighs and a saleswoman at Rathbun Jeweler's both of Ticonderoga, tobacco farm worker in the south and Civil Defense Plane spotter post WWII. However, Eleanor’s favorite job was that of a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Eleanor loved sharing the love of our heavenly father and making her house a home that welcomed all. She was gifted with the talents of sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking, to name a few.
Eleanor was more known for her involvement with the church. She was a member of several over the years including, but not limited to the Village Baptist Church in Fort Edward and the Hague Baptist Church, while also being a member of the American Baptist Churches of New York State. Through the years, she has served as president of the ABCNYS.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Malcom C. Pearson, daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and William Dumbleton, brother Dean Miller, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Pat Miller, sister and brother-in-law Yvonne and Steve MacNeil, and a daughter-in-law, Martha Pearson.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald Pearson and Diane Liebig of Queensbury; five grandchildren, Kathrine Dumbleton Sullivan and her Husband Brian of Vermont, Andy and Stephen Dumbleton of Vermont, Gretchen Pearson Benson and her husband, Jeff, of Jamestown, N.Y., and Carrie Pearson Wilson and her husband, Gary, of Lake Luzerne; five great-grandchildren, Ruth, Hannah and William Benson, and Caeden and Grace Wilson; one sister, Sally M. Abare and her husband, Howard, of Argyle and one sister-in-law, Melvina Miller of Crown Point. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many Church Family Members
A celebration of life will take place, Sunday, Oct. 22, at 3 p.m. at the Village Baptist Church, 131 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY.
