Saratoga Springs - Ehrick D. Howland, cherished husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, passed away July 22, 2022 at the age of 97.
He was born in Winooski, VT and was the son of the late Ehrick D. Howland, Sr., and Mary Coleman Howland.
Ehrick graduated from Woodstock High School in Woodstock, VT. Shortly after his 18th birthday Ehrick, acting on a lifelong dream, enlisted in the US Navy in February of 1943. He was on active duty through 1946. Upon returning from serving in the United States Navy, Ehrick then attended the University of Vermont, graduating with a degree in literature. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and made many great friends.
Ehrick was called back into active service for the Korean War in June of 1950 – 1952.
Ehrick then embarked on a long and successful career at General Electric. Where he began as an accountant and upon completing the GE financial analyst program and enjoyed a long and successful career.
Ehrick was predeceased by his first wife Prudence Poisson, second wife Lois Maloney Howland, daughter Gail Howland, sister Virginia Begle and brother Richard Howland.
Upon returning from service, Ehrick married Lois Maloney in Rochester, NH. They lived in Scotia, NY for 13 years, raising their children before retiring to Vero Beach, FL. They enjoyed retired life in Vero Beach for thirty years. Ehrick and Lois enjoyed spending their summers in Saratoga, NY where they enjoyed being near their daughters and grandchildren.
Ehrick was the father of seven children and took great pride in his sons, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a great student of history and loved discussing world events.
Ehrick was much loved by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be sorely missed.
Ehrick is the beloved father of Ehrick (Sally) Howland, Timothy Howland, Lee (William) Leonard, Judith (Phil) Willoughby, Shelly (Wayne) Akey and Geoffrey Howland. He is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
