Edgar E. Monington, Jr.

ALBANY – Edgar E. Monington Jr., peacefully passed away on October 12, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He is now at peace with his heavenly family.

Edgar was born in Albany, NY on December 20, 1954 to Edgar E. Monington Sr. and Elizabeth W. Monington. He graduated from Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School and became a contractor in roofing and framing. His most favorite thing to do was play the drums on which he was very accomplished and was a member of local bands. Edgar also had an “ear for music” and although he was unable to read notes, he could listen to a tune then play it on a piano or organ. He also liked to draw.

Ed is survived by his sons, Kristopher J (Christine) Monington and Edgar E. (Paula) Monington III and grandchildren, Valerie, Marley, Jared and Madison Monington. He is the brother of Helene O’Clair, Mary Ellen Venter, Richard (Diane) Monington Sr. and Dean (Sherri) Monington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predeceased by his parents Edgar Sr. and Elizabeth Monington and his brothers, John and Arthur Monington.

Funeral services will Friday afternoon at 1:00 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00, prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Albany, 310 S.
