Dorothy “Dottie” Theresa Zimmerman, 96 years young, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.  Dottie was born in Albany, NY on February 13, 1926 and resided in the Village of Colonie for the last 66 years.  She was so fortunate to have spent 73 years with her late beloved husband, Ed.  He tucked her in bed every night, saying “love you bunches”.  The abundance of love they shared was unmatched, a true love story.  Together they had six beautiful children: five daughters and one son.  If you knew Dottie, you knew how devoted she was to her family.  They were her pride and joy.  She loved sewing, crafting, making pickles, decorating her house for every season, cooking and baking for her friends and family and sending (and receiving) cards. She enjoying life to the fullest.  Dottie attended Albany High School and worked in the service industry for many years including Valle’s, The Cranberry Bog and Crossgates Banquet House. She retired at age 81!  Dottie was the matriarch of her family.  She was a faithful and loyal wife, a passionate and attentive Mom and a proud Grandma and GiGi. She had a long, beautiful life and her legacy will live on for those she loved so dearly.

Dottie is survived by her children, Kathleen Bulka (David) of West Caldwell, NJ, Mary Zimmerman of Guilderland, Peggy Chesebrough (Ed) of Delanson, son-in-law Gennaro Pacini of Las Vegas, Joanne Miller (John) of Ballston Spa and David Zimmerman (Suzanne) of Glenmont.  Together Dottie and Ed have 11 grandchildren: Kristie Goulet (Brandon), Tracy Sears (Jon), Kathryn Compton (Elmo), Laura Zito (Michael), David Zimmerman (Krista), Carli, Jacob and Joseph Zimmerman, Kenny Jack (Liza) and Katy and Megan Miller.  In addition are 9 great grandchildren, Bria Zimmerman, Elmo and Hadlee Compton, Zoey and Emma Brown, Aletheia and Michael Zito, Jace Sears, and Veda Goulet.  Dottie is predeceased by her husband Edward, daughter Janet Pacini and her dear sisters Grace Saul and Marie Keyes.

The family is so grateful for the services of the Eddy VNA, and especially her nurse Agnes, who provided such loving care for over a year, the Community Hospice, Dr. Filippone, Aleta and Amy at St. Peter’s Hospital Advanced Heart Disease Center.
