Donald S. Pagano, 85, formerly of Latham, passed away on Wednesday January 03, 2024 at Albany Medical Center with his daughters by his bedside. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Arthur and Dolores Pagano.
Don was a dedicated salesman with Sears & Roebuck Co. for thirty-seven years. He put his family above all else and loved spending time with them. He especially looked forward to family vacations to Hampton Beach and Disney World. Don’s family and friends will always remember him for being a practical jokester and his quick wit and sense of humor.
Don was the loving husband of 35 years to the late Mary Audino Pagano. After Mary’s passing Don turned to volunteer work. He volunteered at the Pruyn House, American Cancer Society, Proctor’s Theater, and the Colonie Senior Service Center. He also took up photography where he earned several awards. His passion for dogs was reignited, especially with his cherished Bella.
He is the beloved father of Jennifer (Steven) Dwyer and Stephanie Moryl. Don is the devoted Poppy to Nicholas and Joseph Dwyer, Mary and Vincent Moryl. He is the brother of Jeanne (Terry) Andres, John (Ida) Pagano and the late James and Bruce Pagano. He is also survived by his dear companion, Gloria Felitte and several nieces and nephews.
Don fought a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease for 13 years. He handled his diagnosis like he lived life, without limitations. He was determined to be independent for as long as possible and live with dignity, his daughters helped him accomplish that.
Don’s family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful C8 nursing staff at Albany Medical Center. Your care and kindness is truly appreciated.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Don’s family on Friday from 4-7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Funeral Saturday morning at 10:00am at the funeral home, then to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
