WEST ALBANY - Dolores “Dee”, Costello 90, passed away at home surrounded by family, on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
Dolores was a lifelong resident of West Albany, a graduate of Vincentian High School and a communicant of the former St. Francis de Sales Church and currently Christ Our Light Catholic Church.She was a beautician for many years, prior to her employment at Tobin Packing Co. and then working as a cashier in the cafeteria at the State Campus.
Dee was a member of the Italian Benevolent Society, the VFW and the Polish Club. She enjoyed casino bus trips, bingo, and playing cards with the ladies every week. She hosted a Christmas Eve open house for many years, where family and friends enjoyed her meatballs, sauce, Italian cookies and hospitality.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Nicolena (Sabatino) D’Agostino, brother John and sister-in-law, Eva D’Agostino, husband Harry Costello Sr. and son, Philip Costello.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Joanne) and John (Shelly) Costello. She is Grandma Dee to Vanessa, Joe (Monica), Ben, Anna, Maddy Costello and Daniel Thurston; and her great grandchildren, Mason and Paisley Costello and Zoe Thurston. Dolores is the stepmother of Harry Jr. (Ginger) and Susan Costello. She is the aunt of Andrew (Jen) D’Agostino, Nick D’Agostino and Audrey D’Agostino. Dee is the sister-in-law of Nicholas (Cynthia) Costello. Dee is the dear friend of many years to Dolores Bianchino, Vasa Arsic and his children, Vera, Harold and Sylvia. Dee is also survived by her many cousins, close friends and other dear relatives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the hospice nurses and all the neighbors who helped the family comfort Dee in her time of need.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dee’s family on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 am at Christ our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive. Loudonville. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
