COLONIE - Dianne (Dee) Margaret McGill Flood, 60, of Colonie, passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Peter’s Hospital on Wednesday October 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 16, 1957 to the late Joseph Elmer McGill II and Patricia Brady McGill. Dee was a graduate of South Colonie Central High School and earned her associates degree from Maria College. She had worked at the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities for 32 years, retiring in 2014. Dianne will forever be known for her kind heart. She always put the needs of family first before her own. Dee was optimistic, no matter what battle she had to fight. She was also known for the significant amount of “useless” information she could name off. This came in handy when completing her favorite morning crossword.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Ryan Flood, Ross (Jill) Flood, Steven (Rachel) Flood, and Katie Flood all of Colonie. Dianne loved her time spent with her cherished grandchildren; Louis, Olivia and Kylie. She is the beloved sister of Joanne McCall-Williams, Karen McCumber, Joseph (Leslie) and Mike (Samantha) McGill and the late Mary Ellen Gariepy. She is the dear daughter in law of Beatrice Flood and the late Milton Flood. Several nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws also survive.
Funeral services in celebration of Dee’s life will be Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. in Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm at Cannon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers and at the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to To Life (Breast Cancer support services), 410 Kenwood Ave., Delmar, NY 12054 or Milton Flood Scholarship, c/o South Colonie Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 1412, Albany, NY 12205.
