COLONIE - Daniel “Danny” Francis Bleichert, 61, of Colonie, passed away Sunday, September 17th, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 9th, 1961, in Albany, he was the son of John and Irene Bleichert. Danny met the love of his life at the Woolworth department store in 1975 and they went on to build a long life together. He owned and operated Empire State Companies, which he started over thirty years ago. It quickly became a successful family run organization where he dedicated his blood, sweat, tears and loyalty to the clients that he served in the capital region. Dan was also a lifelong member of the West Albany Fire Company, devoting numerous hours to his beloved community.
Danny enjoyed going on his annual trips to Florida, and in the summer spending time at camp with his camp family. However, what he enjoyed the most was spending as much time as possible with his precious grandchildren, Raelynn, Sadie Ellen and Griffin. Raelynn was the apple of his eye and his first grandchild to make him a “Papa”. Sadie Ellen forever kept him on his toes and entertained, he loved not only her fiery red hair but also her fiery personality. Griffin is his first grandson, the one who will carry on the Bleichert last name. Each one held a very big, special, place in his heart, and he made sure everyone knew it. His love for his four-legged companions was like nonother, he loved and cared for all animals he crossed paths with. He was comforted in his last days by his faithful companions, Lucy, Ricky and Mia.
He was predeceased by his parents Irene and John Bleichert, and father in-law Thomas Sidoti. He was survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha Bleichert, his son Joshua (Paige) Bleichert, their children Raelynn, Sadie Ellen and Griffin and his son Jeremy Bleichert. He was also survived by his siblings, Henry Bleichert, Bonnie LaRowe, Debbie LaRose, Tammy Desjardins, Kevin (Rhonda) Allen, Larry Allen, Frank (Nancy) Allen and David Allen; His mother in law, Patricia Sidoti; Stepmother, Eleanor Bleichert; sister and brother in laws; Anthony (Sandy) Sidoti, Pamela (John) Kenneally, Cynthia (Joe) Berghela, Mathia (Kevin) Burke, Melissa (Sergio) Garufi, Michael (Ann) Sidoti, Thomas (Kim) Sidoti, Christina (Charles) Schramm; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Reju George at NYOH and all the nurses on his care team who gave Dan the compassion and care during his final days.
