Claudia G. Hughes

COLONIE – Claudia G. Hughes, 85, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Teresian House in Albany.

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Everingham. Claudia was predeceased by her beloved husband Timothy H. Hughes in 2022. Her passion was to care for the elderly at Albany County Nursing Home and as a private duty nurses’ aide. Claudia enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting flowers and landscapes through years of practice and determination. She created beautiful wedding cakes. Claudia was an award-winning baton twirler in her younger years. She learned tap dancing later in life and loved it. Claudia cherished her time with her wonderful family.

Claudia is the devoted mother of Timothy Hughes (Tina Lopes), Shawn (Lori) Hughes, Kelly (Daniel) Student, Denise (Raymond) Walters and Bernice (Richard) Ruzzo. She is the sister of the late Joel (Eileen) Everingham, Kevin Everingham (Nancy survives), and Beverly (Bud) Schuman. Claudia was close with her late sister in law Wendy McCarthy. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Claudia’s family offers their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Teresian House.

Visitation will be Thursday morning from 10 am to 12:00 noon, followed by a brief prayer service at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
