Catherine Savarino

Cobleskill – Catherine Savarino, 96 of Cobleskill passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2022.  She was born March 29, 1925 in Cayey, on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. In 1941, she moved to NYC and in 1965 settled in Sharon Springs later moving to Carlisle.  Catherine retired from Suny Cobleskill in 1989 and made her retirement home in Cobleskill.

She loved to cook and play BINGO, and visit the casinos. Catherine was a happy go lucky lady with a great sense of humor, a love of life and a lot of spunk.  She loved to put a smile on people’s faces with her many stories and jokes.

Greeting Catherine at heavens gate  is her loving husband Luis Savarino who passed away 28 years to the day.  She is also welcomed by her parents  Santiago and Cleofe Martinez Caraballo. sisters Justina Ortiz and Modesta Martinez along with her son-in-law John Drummond.  Catherine had a large family and is  survived by her loving siblings  Carmen Gary in Louisiana, Maria Banchs of NC, Benjamin Medina and her little brother Eligio Medina in Dallas.  Deeply saddened to see her depart are her 3 children and their families. Her son Manuel & JoAnn Soto in Texas, daughters Eliza Drummond in Esperance and Yolanda Soto of Cobleskill. Catherine was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Mark, Roger, Jonathan, Jennifer and John.  She also leaves behind 4 wonderful great grandchildren, Jacob, Alexys, Santiago and Samuel.  Her life was filled with the love and caring of nieces and nephews.  Rita Kay, Raddie, Jamie, Camille, Willie, and Cathy she loved you all.
