Cassandra (Cassie) Ashley Steyer, 38, of Clifton Park, passed away from battling COVID-19 at Albany Medical Center on Monday, August 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Utica, NY on July 8, 1985, Cassie was the daughter of Peter and Shirley (Paslawski) Steyer.
Cassie will be remembered for her big, blue eyes and bright smile that would shine when she heard a familiar voice. She enjoyed listening to music and TV, getting kisses and hugs from loved ones, and cuddling with her favorite stuffed animals. Cassie’s family is comforted by their strong faith that Cassie began her period of pain-free, restful sleep, in anticipation of her resurrection. The family looks forward to that hope becoming a reality and seeing our “Choo-chee Bear” smile again (John 5:28, 29).
Cassie was predeceased by her maternal grandfather and grandmother, Andrew and Stefanie Paslawski Sr., her paternal grandfather, Janos Steyer, and maternal uncle, Andrew Paslawski Jr.
She is survived by her parents, Peter and Shirley; younger sister, Megan Steyer; paternal grandmother, Eva Steyer; aunts and uncles Linda (Ken) Colerick, Sofia (Jonathan) Lovecchio, James (Sherrie) Paslowski, Deborah (Mark) McLaughlin; and many first and second cousins.
Cassie’s family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the caring staff and administration in the North Colonie School District (1992 – 2007) and at Saratoga Bridges (2008 – 2020) and the countless number of doctors and nurses who provided her care throughout her 38 years of life.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service to remember Cassie, which will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 3:00pm EDT at the Albany Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 400 Albany Shaker Rd. Albany, NY 12211.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ronald McDonald House of the Capital Region (139 S. Lake Ave Albany, NY 12208), an organization that provided care and support to Cassie’s family during an extremely difficult time early in Cassie’s life.
