Casey J. O'Connor

April 16, 1976 — June 15, 2024

LATHAM – Casey James O’Connor, 48, of Latham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his residence, surrounded by the love of his cherished family.

Casey is the beloved husband of Pamela Curtis O’Connor. He is the devoted father of Jake O’Connor and Casey Rose O’Connor. He is the much-loved brother of Jimmy (Leigh) O’Connor. Casey is the uncle of Avery Kay and Ozzie O’Connor. He is the son of the late James A. and Deborah O’Connor Jr. Casey is the stepson of Michele Sheehan. He is the son in law of Carol Curtis and the late Fred Curtis. Casey is the brother-in-law of Krista and Kevin Glynn and uncle of Rileigh and Cadence Glynn.

Casey was the Project Assistant Director of HR Innovations for the New York State Comptroller’s Office.

Casey was a standout baseball player at Shaker High School and the College of St. Rose. He took over the St. Rose program when his friend and mentor, Coach Bob Bellizzi passed away from leukemia in 2006. Five years later, Casey became the head baseball coach at CBA and won the Sectional title in 2021.

Over the years, Casey coached countless baseball and softball teams at all levels. Even though he is known for coaching at the College of St. Rose and currently at Christian Brothers Academy, Casey gave every player the same unwavering support and made them believe they could reach a level of greatness. He not only tried to teach the game of baseball, he also tried to teach valuable lessons that his players could carry through life. Most importantly, he wanted his players at every level to have fun and feed off of his passion for the game he loved.

Casey’s commitment to coaching was matched only by his devotion to his family. Casey’s eyes would light up with pride whenever he spoke of his wife, Pam and their two children, Jake and Casey Rose. He was a loving and supportive husband and father, always encouraging them in their endeavors and giving them the utmost support. Casey’s niece and nephew not only saw him as an uncle but as a superhero. He was honest and loyal, and his love was unmeasurable. Casey had an innate natural charisma. When he spoke, people listened. He had the biggest heart and that translated into everything that he did. It is these characteristics that made him a hero to so many.

Casey’s character, attitude and effort not only drove himself to strive for excellence, he also instilled that drive into those around him to want to be the best version of themselves. He instilled his coworkers, friends, and players with faith and confidence and encouraged them to learn and grow as individuals. He was a true leader and mentor yet made everyone around him feel like they were his teammate.

Casey’s sphere of influence extends beyond the baseball field. He was known for his generous spirit, his infectious humor and his unwavering allegiance. He had a unique ability to connect with people and make them feel valued and appreciated. Casey’s life was a testament to the power of love, dedication and community. While we mourn his loss, we celebrate his remarkable life. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

As Casey would say “Lost that inning, gotta win the next.” He would want his legacy for each and every person to pick themselves up and do everything they can to win the next inning of life.
