Carol A. Luizzi

December 18, 1940 — February 11, 2023

Loudonville - Carol A. Knauf Luizzi, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 11, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Carol was born in Albany, NY where she graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1958 and began working for the New York Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. After marrying, she joined her husband, Peter, building up his paving company, working alongside him until his death in 1990, after which she worked alongside her son Peter and daughter Kim, retiring in 2000 and then moved to Florida with her sister Mert. In her spare time Carol enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, the casino, and spending time by the pool with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, and no one passed up an invitation to dinner, especially on the holidays. She also enjoyed traveling; her many cruises, yearly trips to Aruba and her trip along the Italian coast with her family.

Carol was predeceased by her love Peter J. Luizzi, Sr., her Mom and Dad, Henry Knauf, Sr. and Ethel (Szesnat) Knauf; her siblings, Jean (Edward) Towers; Henry (Nancy) Knauf;  Marilyn (Bernard) Radtke; Sister Jean Veronica (Phyllis) Knauf, SNJM; and Edward (Marjorie) Knauf, as well as her dear cousins Janet Mariani and Mary Lee Burnham.

Survivors include her most cherished and loved children, Kim, Peter Jr. (Laura), Laurie, and Anthony “Tony” (Sarah) Luizzi; the loves of her heart, her grandchildren Carolyn (Joshua), Bryant (Lilly), Stephanie, Richard, Jr., Peter “PJ”, Connor (Laura), Michaela, Anthony, Christian, Mira, Vincenzo, Madison, and Liam and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Dahlia, Remington “Remi”, and Willow. She is also survived by her beloved sister-in-law Lena Luizzi; very special friends, Rick Yarter, Dave & Pat Carnevale, and Richard Best, Sr., as well as many, many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews; especially close to her Jackie Harte, Bonnie Clarke, Connie Styno, Sandy Brisebois, Edward Towers, Phyllis Ermentraut, Jerry Towers, Kathleen Whitsett, Karen McDonnell, Nancy Jean Qualls, and Mary Katherine Medei.

We especially remember her very special friend and Pastor Fr. John Bradley, thank you for everything and God Bless you. We would like to thank our special angel Annie sent to us from God, our saving Grace.
