Carl Fritz Wolf Adamec

Schenectady – Carl Fritz Wolf Adamec, 67, passed away on October 3, 2024, at Ellis Hospital after multiple medical conditions. He was born in Mineola, NY on May 4, 1957, to the late John B. and Gertrude H. F. (Wolf) Adamec. Carl was a graduate of Niskayuna High School, Cornell University and Albany Law School. He had a private law practice in the Capital district area until his retirement.

Carl’s faith was always important to him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Schenectady and a church volunteer. He was an honest, loyal, caring friend. He was a Mason for over 35 years. He celebrated his German heritage by traveling to Germany many times.

Carl loved all types of games, especially chess, which he started playing at an early age. He earned the title of US Chess National Master and Candidate Master. He also enjoyed backgammon, war games, card games and computer games. Carl enjoyed sports including playing soccer, bowling and baseball. He was an equestrian and cared for all animals, especially dogs, horses and wolves. He was a world history enthusiast and avid reader of science fiction, animal stories, history and romance. He played the clarinet. He enjoyed contra dancing, folk music and rock and roll.

Carl was predeceased by his brother, John C. W. Adamec. He is survived by his beloved sister, Gertrude “Trudy” (David) Hudson; niece, Amy (Bryan) Nicholson; and nephews: Peter (Allison) Hudson, all of Niskayuna; John R. (Bethany) Adamec of Annandale, VA; Matthew T. Adamec and partner Allyson Baker of Whitman, MA; sister-in-law, Cheryl J. Adamec of Niskayuna; and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 35 Furman St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be at the church from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the National Wildlife Federation at support.nwf.org.
