Colonie - Blanche Weininger, 103, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 24, 2023 at The Teresian House in Albany.
Born in Norfolk, VA she was the daughter of Delphis and Grace La Chapelle.
She attended grammer school in Webster, MA before her family moved to Albany at age 9.
She attended Albany High School.
For more than 30 years, Blanche worked as a cafeteria worker for the South Colonie School District, retiring in 1999. She also worked for Picotte Realty in Colonie,
For more than 60 years, Blanche lived on McNutt Avenue in Colonie until the age of 101.
She enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling, bowling, embroidery and sewing. She was a past member of the Lisha Kill Senior Citizens in Colonie.
Besides her husband Jack (1987), she is pre-deceased by her daughter Nancy, a brother Richard La Chapelle and sisters: Angeline Bradley, Madelyne Miller, and Marjorie “Honey” Smith.
She leaves her children: Jack (Gail) Weininger of Kennesaw, GA and Robin (Joe) Kowalski of Voorheesville; 8 grandchildren: Marty, Jenny, Jill, Robin, J.J. Todd, Josh, and Sarah; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Friday, April 28 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, April 27 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
