Beverly M. Van Wagenen

April 23, 1940 — March 5, 2024

Colonie – Beverly Marion VanWagenen passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, March 5th, 2024 at the age of 83. Born in Albany, NY on April 23rd 1940.

Beverly always loved music and enjoyed singing.  In her early years she appeared on television and sang on the program Teenage Barn.  Her husband of 65 years (Edwin) would say she could’ve been the next Celine Dionne.  In her later years, she became a devout Christian and member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she sang joyfully with the choir and also volunteered for the parish’s accounting needs. Beverly was employed with New York Telephone and worked for New York State Tax and Finance where she retired after a long career.  After retirement she enjoyed remaining active on the alumni committee.  Beverly enjoyed the multiple cruises, she would take with her family and friend’s but mostly she enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.

She enjoyed spending time with her daughter going to craft fairs and lunches on weekends, and meeting friends with her husband for dinner at various restaurants.  She also truly loved spending time with her Grandchildren.

Beverly was predeceased by her mother and father Marion and Charles Hallett. She was also predeceased by her grandmother Margaret Owens who raised her through childhood.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Wife to Edwin VanWagenen of 65 years, Mother to Donna Murphy (Andy Murphy) , and Stephen VanWagenen (Laura Bodnar).  Sister to Georgiana Gapp, Suzanne Cornell (Richard Cornell), Kathy Prue,  Richard Hallet (Barbara Hallet), Ronnie Hallett (Arlene Hallett) and Billy Hallett (Rosie Hallett).  Grandmother to Bryan Murphy (Jackie Murphy), Sean Murphy (Morgan Ten Eyck), Brendan Murphy, and Kelley Murphy.  Great Grandmother to Zachary and Cecelia Murphy.  Also mother to her beloved cat Ivan.
