Beverly W. Chestoski

October 7, 1955 — April 3, 2023

Niskayuna – Beverly W. Chestoski, 67, passed away peacefully at home among family on Monday, April 3, 2023. Beverly was born on October 7, 1955, to Albert and Marilyn (Van Nostrand) Wright of Tillson, in Kingston, New York.

She was a 1973 graduate of Kingston High School and attended college at SUNY Potsdam where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1977 with a degree in Computer Science. She drove across the country and obtained a Master of Science degree from Stanford University in Computer Engineering in 1978. Always one to challenge herself, she obtained a private pilot license in 1984. She began working at Bell Laboratories, then later retired from IBM in 1990 to pursue her favorite passion: family.

Bev met her husband, Allen M. Chestoski, in college. In 1980 they were married and enjoyed 43 years of marriage.

Bev had a great appreciation for the outdoors, and loved to keep active; her favorites were hiking fire towers, Adirondack high peaks, snowshoeing, gardening and walking her dogs. She was an avid NY Mets and Buffalo Bills fan. Bev had been a volunteer at St. Peters Hospital, and enjoyed visiting patients and families with her Golden Retriever therapy dogs, Shadow then Cooper. At home, she would surround herself with music, and had a gift for playing the piano. Bev spent countless hours chauffeuring her sons around the Northeast to play travel hockey. Eventually, Bev decided it was her turn to have fun, and began playing hockey herself. She even became a registered USA Hockey referee.

Everyone that knew Bev enjoyed her sense of humor; her smile and laughter were contagious. Her grandfather and uncle were carpenters. Pleasant memories of being in their wood shop stayed with her and created a passion for woodworking, whether it was simply staining and installing molding or hanging and trimming a door.

Surviving are her husband Allen, two sons Allen and Matthew, her brother Richard Wright and his wife (Melinda).

A celebration of Bev’s life will be held on Saturday, September 16 at the Niskayuna Reformed Church, Fellowship Hall,  3041 Troy-Schenectady Rd from 1:00 to 3:00 PM..
