Barbara M. Buckley

Watervliet - Barbara M. Buckley of Watervliet, 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 14th at Teresian House surrounded by her children.

She was born on March 1st, 1939, in Beacon, N.Y., the daughter of the late Everette and May Ostrander. Barb graduated from Troy High School in New York. She married her Marine sweetheart Daniel E Buckley on February 22, 1958.  She worked for the state of NY and retired from Disability where she found great satisfaction from helping others navigate and receive their benefits. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary in Watervliet where she raised her 4 children. Barbara is the beloved mother of Keith Buckley (Liz Bogers) of Idaho Springs, Colorado, Kathleen L Buckley (Nelson Kent) of Knox, NY. Marilyn Buckley (Andrew H. Bird) Wheatridge Colorado and Cheryl Buckley-Hickey (Bill Hickey) of Guilderland, NY.   Barb adored her grandchildren Ada Kent, Noah, Maeghan, Lauren Hickey, Emma and Kiki Buckley.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Church with immediate family only. The Mass will be live streamed on Friday at 10 am. Log on through  ctkparishny.org  for funeral mass for Barbara Buckley. A public celebration of Barb’s life will be held in the summer of 2022. Entombment will be in St Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you donate in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or Teresian House where she was given great care for the past 8 years while she suffered from Alzheimer’s. Despite her slow decline, Barbara kept her sweet and loving disposition. Even when she lost her ability to communicate through words.
