TROY – Anthony A. Vumbacco, 96, of Troy, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded with Love. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late Frank and Mary Vumbacco.
Tony “Turk” was a WWII era Navy veteran. He was a maintenance Superintendent for the Troy Housing Authority at Griswold Heights for many years. Tony enjoyed music, watching football (Bills when Giants stink), bowling and feeding the ponies with his buddies Tommy and Fred. Tony had a great sense of Humor! He was an avid fisherman enjoying over fifty years at the Tomhannock where legend has it he almost once caught a fish. He will always be dearly missed, loved & cherished by all.
He was predeceased by his wife, Roberta “Annie” Vumbaco. He is the father of Keith Vumbaco, Brian (Yvette) Vumbaco, Kimberly (Gratton) Vumbaco, Kelly (Richard Large) Vumbaco and Cynthia M. Vumbaco Burke. He is the brother of Paul (Wendi) Vumbaco and Ceil (Henry) Busone. Tony was predeceased by seven siblings and his great granddaughter Madilynn Nicole Lewellyn. He is the Poppy of Cullen, Kateri, Conway, Christopher, Kayla, Jarrad, Ryan, Caileigh and Chase. Great grandfather of Liliana and Marlee. Uncle “Turk” will be greatly missed by many loving niece’s and nephew’s.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Tony’s family on Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church, Troy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
