Albany - Anthony “Tony” DiVirgilio passed into the arms of the Lord peacefully on June 4 surrounded by his three sons whom he cherished.
Tony is survived by Angelina, his beloved wife of 64 years who was the love of his life. Born in Orsogna, Italy in 1936, Tony immigrated to America in 1956 after his father passed away. He arrived with his mother (Anna) and brother (Aldo) who have both predeceased him. Tony was a consummate family man who always put his family first. He was very generous in nature and freely gave of his time, love and energetic help without a second of thought. Tony’s strong work ethic and respect for all earned him the affection and admiration of all who knew him. He worked various jobs including masonry, factory work and as a chef in restaurants located in the Albany and Troy area. He was owner/proprietor of the White Cottage restaurant in downtown Albany. A majority of his career was with the SUNY Albany University Auxiliary Services which he retired from in 1991 as the Food Service Director. Most of all, Tony enjoyed the time that he spent with his wife, brother, sister-in-law and entire family.
He leaves behind his wife (Angelina) his sons; Louis (Cindy), Anthony (Deborah) and Aldo (Gemma), and grandchildren; Louis (Erica), Laura (Adam), Brittany (Charly) Joung, Anthony, Christine, David.
The DiVirgilio family would like to thank the Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center’s dedicated staff that provided for the excellent care that our father received.
