COLONIE – Anita Kyratzis, 79, of Colonie, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.
She was the wife of 59 years to the late Demetrios Kyratzis. Devoted mother of Anastasia (David) Leach and Aristotales Kyratzis. Grandmother of Demetrios Kyratzis and Jason, Brendan and Ryan Leach. She is survived by her brother Robert (Pat) Hagen and family and Aunt of Saki (Marygrace) Kyratzis and family.
Anita worked for the NYS Tax Department and upon retirement became a professional clown named “Yaa Yaa” bringing laughter and joy to many children throughout the years. She was a volunteer for the Clowns on Rounds, a non for-profit organization, which has been lifting spirits and making people laugh for 23 years with their Humor Therapy at local hospitals. In more recent years, Anita was the owner of the Scotia Diner and loved working there serving the community.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11:00 at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Rd. Albany. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Anita’s family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie.
