Halfmoon – Amelia (Sis) Osier Mielewski lived 87 years until her death on Wednesday, December 18th, where she died peacefully at home after braving dementia for many years. Amelia was born to the late Bernard Osier and Alice (Moore) Osier in Ticonderoga, New York. After graduating in Ticonderoga, she went on to graduate from Austin School of Beauty in 1956, where she met her lifelong best friend, Polly (Hank) Glenn, who introduced Amelia to Frank, her beloved husband of 66 years until his death in 2023. Amelia loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, listening to Polka music, spending summers at their camp in Ticonderoga and going on many bus trips with Frank and their many friends. Amelia had a sincere way of always making everyone feel special and will be remembered as a kind, compassionate soul.
Amelia leaves behind her beloved children Michele Mielewski, Sheila (David) Messore, Robert (Eileen) Mielewski and Dawn (Rob) Gautreau, and was known as “Gram” to her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and ‘Sissy’ to her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons, Ronald and Gary Mielewski. Survivors also include her brothers Gary Osier and Keith (Patricia) Osier, her sister-in-laws Rosalind Melewski, Leona Mielewski and Annette Mielewski, along with her daughter-in-law Colleen Mielewski.
