CLIFTON PARK – Alton A. “Wes” Wescott, 86, of Clifton Park, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lake Placid, he was the son of the late Guy G. and Alta I. Wescott. Alton served in the US Army as a young man. He was a tax auditor with New York State Dept. of Tax & Finance for over 25 years. Alton was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Albany Knights of Columbus Council 173. He was a kind, caring and generous man, loved by all. Alton cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.
Alton was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Waters Wescott in 2006. He is the husband of Sheila Robinson Venezia. Alton is the devoted father of Mark (Peg) Wescott, Mary Wescott, Andrew (Dee) Wescott and John Wescott (Tim Stanard). He is Papa Alton to Reagan, Ryan, Sarah, Emily and Connor Wescott and Eitom Tsadok. Alton is survived by the last of his seven siblings, Mary Fran Merrill.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Alton’s wonderful caregivers, Barb, Patti and Sophy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Alton’s family on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd. Clifton Park. Contact tracing forms will be required to attend the Mass. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
