Alfred J. Burke

Alfred J. Burke, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.

Alfred attended high school at Bethlehem Central Schools. He went on to work for the town of Bethlehem briefly before entering his 33-year career at Conrail (now CSX) in Selkirk. He was an electrician and a member of the local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Alfred was well known for being handy. He was always helping out his family, friends and neighbors with anything they needed. He also loved hunting, canoeing, nature and hiking in Thatcher Park. He was also known to race stock cars at Lebanon Valley.

Alfred is predeceased by his parents James and Marion Burke. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Diane C. Burke. Alfred is also survived by his daughters, Kimberly Burke (Robert Retell) and Tania McCauslin and his grandchildren, Dean, Dustin, Cierra, Dylan, and Savannah Burke-Retell as well as several nieces and nephews and his special friends the Spagnola family.

Visitation with Alfred’s family will be on Monday, January 30, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue in Colonie. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Cannon Funeral Home and burial will be directly after at Memory Gardens at 983 Watervliet Shaker Road in Colonie.
