Alan "Ace" Anderson

COLONIE - Alan “Ace” Anderson, 86, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

He was born in Springfield, MA and was the son of the late Ansel and Mildred Anderson. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Arlene Anderson.

Ace was a veteran of the US Navy. He served for thirty years as a Corrections Officer with the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. At the time of his retirement, he was the senior most officer in the jail and was saluted by all shifts on his walkout. After his retirement, he worked at the Albany County Court House for ten years. Ace was a man of humor and always had a joke of the day. He enjoyed his weekly bingo games down at the Colonie Senior Center with friends. Ace was an avid bowler for over 50 years.  Ace loved to travel and always looked forward to his annual trips to Florida with Arlene and Saratoga in August.  He said “I never had a bad day at the Race Track”.  Ace was a big fan of the New York Mets and Giants. His friends & family always looked forward to receiving one of Ace’s famous handwritten letters. It did not matter where he was, everyone knew Ace.  He touched many lives with his ACEisms and sense of humor.  And everybody has an “ACE” story to prove it.  He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

He is the devoted father of Alan A. (Theresa) Anderson Jr., Kimberly Anderson (Ralph Sullivan), Leah (Brian) Kolota and Amy Anderson. Ace is the cherished grandfather of Brianna (Michael) Morlock and Tyler Kolota, Sophia and Samantha Malorgio. Ace is survived by his Brother In-law, James F. Shellenberger Jr., his niece and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ace’s family on Tuesday, January 24th from 3p to 6p at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25th, at 10am at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 49 Killean Park, Colonie. Interment will be at Memory Gardens.
