Mark E. Riddell, 73, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Albany Medical Center.

Born on June 9, 1947 in Niskayuna, NY, he was the son of William and Carol (Estabrook) Riddell.

Mark grew up in Alplaus, NY and was a 1965 graduate of Niskayuna High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Denver.

Mark’s lifelong interest in aviation started at age 15 when he obtained his glider pilot’s license. He advanced his aviation career, obtaining every rating and was type rated for most every aircraft, obtaining his commercial pilot’s rating and was employed as a chief pilot for Richmor Aviation based in Hudson, NY.  He also was a flight instructor and sea plane instructor, working mostly out of Saratoga Springs where he logged 5,000 plus hours of instruction.

He had a profound interest in history and in retirement served with the National Park Service as a volunteer at the Saratoga Battlefield.  His other interest included archeology aviation, crossword puzzles and the company of his feline friends.

He leaves his wife Bonnie (Sivc) Riddell and several cousins.

Burial will be private.
