Marian L. Preville

September 30, 1926 — January 2, 2021

ALBANY – Marian L. Preville, 94, of Albany, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and congestive heart failure.

Born in Jersey Shore, PA., she was the daughter of the late Martin and Margaret Thompson Geitner. Marian was predeceased by her sister Lucille Preville, whom she greatly missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Jim) Woods and Darlene Preville; her grandson Fred Nickerson; great granddaughter Pamela Nickerson and many nieces and nephews. She was a second Mom to her niece Shelley.

Marian worked for several companies in Albany before marriage in 1949. She loved being with her family, bowling with her family and friends at Sunset Bowl and attending Blessed Sacrament Thrift Store. She enjoyed garage sales with late friend Carol Decker and spending time with her beloved cat, Pepsi.  Marian will be remembered for her love of family, and her ability and strength to endure and prevail through multiple health challenges. She would never complain and was quick to laugh at herself. She will be missed greatly. The family offers special thanks to her aide, Jean for her loving care and compassion for the past three years. and the staff of Community Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. Please enter the church from the parking lot entrance. Face masks are required and social distancing must be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society or Community Hospice.
